  • PF: for the habitat types that can have a non-priority as well as a priority form (6210, 7130, 9430) enter "X" in the column PF to indicate the priority form.
  • NP: in case that a habitat type no longer exists in the site enter: x (optional)
  • Cover: decimal values can be entered
  • Caves: for habitat types 8310, 8330 (caves) enter the number of caves if estimated surface is not available.
  • Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation)

Other Site Characteristics

The valley of Laisälven, from Fjällfors to Laisan downstreams, in this the river is falling about 60 meters with the largest falls at Märkforsen. A valley dominated by mountainbirch forest, sometimes quite lush with herbs. Here are also primeval western taiga forest with a isolated, extremely western situation. Along the river Laisälven are some botanically interesting bogs with high abundance of species, especially at Fjällfors where the bedrock consists calcareous materials. Pinedominated forests are growing on both side of the valley, up to Yraft. On the south facing slopes of the valley are pinestands growing up to Fjällfors. Extending heathforests, with high frequences of mosses, in the western part of the area. At brook gullies and south facing slopes are herb-rich meadow-characterised birchforests common. The forest in Laisdalen is affected by human culture during the epoch of Nasafjäll, 1600. The watercoarse upstreams Yraft up to Blassa is the most botanical entriched parts of Laisälven. The bogs are of the types sloping fenses. Some of them are extremely entriched with characterising species as Carex ornithopoda, C. capitata, C. appropinquata, all on the regional red-list. At the larger lakes are the unusual plantspecies Taraxacum crocodes and Polemonium acutiflorum growing. At the lake Yraft there is a well developed delta with culture vegetation. The river Laisälven upstreams Yraft the area is joining the CW-qualified object Tjålmejaure-Laisdalen. Habitat types 7320 and 9040 is located in the alpine region. Species Gulo gulo and Clossiana improba are located in the alpine region. Området går genom två biogeografiska regioner. EU-kommissionen tog beslut om den alpina delen 200312 och den boreala delen 200501.

4.2 Quality and importance

Övre Laisdalen comprises as well western taiga, nordic subalpine forests with Betula pubescens ssp czrepavonii growing on heaths and herbrich meadows, precipice-vegetation as alluvial meadows near the river. Other important species motivated: "other reason" are all regionaly red-listed
