Other Site Characteristics

The site is located within the large interdune depression created in SW-NE direction. It is a part of the geomorphological unit Záhorská nížina Lowland, subunit Borská nížina Lowland, part Bor. Geological basement is formed by the Neogene sediments. According to the Slovak phythogeographical categorization, the site belongs to the area of the Pannonian flora (area Pannonicum, part Eupannonicum, region Záhorská nížina Lowland). The following habitats of national importance are also present: pine-oak acidophilous forests, alder swamp forests, large sedge and Phalaris arundinacea beds and shallow-water floating communities. The habitats are important for the occurrence of protected and endangered species in the site.

4.2 Quality and importance

Well-preserved example of the transition mires, quaking bogs and dystrophic standing waters developed in the flat interdune depression with the typical rare and endangered species (Sphagnum sp., Utricularia sp., Hottonia palustris, Hydrocotyle vulgaris, Leucorrhinia dubia). The site hosts also the invertebrates of national importance (Mantis religiosa, Menephilus cylindricus, Oryctes nasicornis).
