Other Site Characteristics

The site is a part of the flysch stripe of Biele Karpaty Mts. It is a landslide flow interbanded with streams with strong sediments of tufa formations. Native communities were the oak-beech forests and alder woods, at present the areas are deforested, altered with hay meadows, partly old fallows, etc.

4.2 Quality and importance

The site overlaps with the Brezovská dolina Nature Monument designated in 1989 and it is a part of the Biele Karpaty PLA. Aim of the protection is to preserve the tufa springs of regional importance with the occurence of several Orchideaceae species (Gymnadenia densiflora, Epipactis palustris, Ophrys holubyana, etc.) and valuable invertebrates as Maculinea arion, Psen ater (the only locality of the species' occurrence in the region).
