Other Site Characteristics

The site belongs to the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy Mountains, sub-assembly Zadné hory. From the geological point of view is formed by rocks of Cretaceous and Paleogene Silesian sheets with quartz and offal sandstones and conglomerates. The site consist of the forest complexes with representation of acidophilous beech forests with a higher proportion of spruce in the main ridge of the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy, in the middle and lower part of the site and beyond the ridge are springfens bog peatlands and spruce forests in the vicinity of the occurrence of protected and endangered mountain species (Drosera rotundifolia, Lycopodium annotinum, Blechnum spicant, Calamagrostis villosa, Homogyne alpina). The habitats of national significance occur on the site are represented by fir and spruce-fir forests in complex with acidophilous beech. Rocky ridges and benches of resistant sandstone rocks are Lynx lynx habitat and other large predators in the area represented also by the Canis lupus.

4.2 Quality and importance

The site is focused on preservation of complexes of acidophilous mixed forests and peatland spruce forests and protected, endangered plant species. Bog and waterlogged spruce forests near the Moravian-Silesian region are characterized by the occurrence of rare mountain species (Calamagrostis villosa, Homogyne alpina, Gentiana asclepiadea, Doronicum austriacum and others). Strong bench units of coarse-grained sandstone rugged rocky ridges are the habitat for Lynx lynx. From the large carnivores in the site occurs Canis lupus.
