5.3 Site designation (optional)

Il tratto centrale dell'area è stato precedentemente designato come ZPS, con la denominazione " Greto del torrente Toce tra Domodossola e Villadossola". Tutta l'area rientra nell'IBA IT002 "Valle Anzasca , Valle Antrona e Valli circostanti", successivamente classificata IT003 "Valli di Anzasca e Antrona". Comprende l'Oasi Bosco Tenso gestita dal WWF e tre aree di importanza naturalistiche (AIN) identificate dalla provincia del VCO, ovvero "Fiume Toce tra Crevadossola e Trontano", "Fiume Toce tra Vogogna e Gravellona Toce", "Sistema degli ambienti prativi del fondovalle ossolano", riconosciute anche a livello di piano territoriale provinciale, dove vengono anche classificate nel loro insieme come "Corridoio ecologico del Toce". Comprende il biotopo provinciale "Lanca fluviale nell'alveo del Fiume Toce".

La realizzazione del progetto Life Natura di cui al punto precedente, dal titolo "Fiume Toce : conservazione di ambienti ripariali a favore dell'avifauna nidificante e migratoria", prevede l'esecuzione di interventi gestionali di ripristino degli habitat
