Other Site Characteristics

La formazione geologica prevalente è quella calcareo-arenaceo-marnosa del Luteziano, con rara presenza di calcari marnosi del Senoniano. Le linee del paesaggio , nel complesso, sono caratterizzate da pendenze dolci, salvo in corrispondenza della sommità e del versante sud-ovest del M. Abellio, che ospitano ripidi pendii rupestri. La rete idrografica superficiale è modestissima.

4.2 Quality and importance

Il sito ospita il tratto meridionale di un crinale che, partendo dalle Alpi Liguri settentrionali dopo i monti Abellio e Abelliotto, scende rapidamente al mare. In questa area, a ridotta presenza antropica, sta verificandosi il recupero della vegetazione legnosa, con un interessante risalita in quota di specie mediterranee. Sono presenti habitat di interesse prioritario ai sensi della direttiva 92/43 CEE, varie specie dellallegato II, endemiti e specie protette ai sensi di direttive/convenzioni internazionali.
