4.2 Quality and importance

Il sito è caratterizzato dalla presenza di habitat di notevole interesse naturalistico con particolare riferimento ai residui ambiti riconducibili alle Lande Secche Europee (brughiere), habitat caratteristico dellalta pianura lombarda ed al limite dellareale corologico di diffusione in questo settore dellEuropa. Tale habitat prezioso, rarefatto e minacciato, è per altro elemento fondamentale e caratterizzante della biodiversità del SIC, come emerge dai dati sulla ricchezza specifica dei gruppi faunistici ed ambito paesaggisticamente e funzionalmente importante per la diversificazione dellecosistema forestale del Parco. Levoluzione spontanea della vegetazione minaccia tale habitat e si ritiene che la spontanea tendenza al ripristino delle cenosi potenziali, riconducibili principalmente al Querco-Betuleto, sia in questo caso da gestire, in senso di controllo successionale, per limportanza ecologica e naturalistica dellhabitat in parola. Il comparto faunistico risulta significativo, sia per la presenza di specie di interesse comunitario, che per la presenza di specie stenotope, con popolazioni in calo, e di specie tipiche delle brughiere alberate. Di significato è il rilievo di un nuovo habitat individuato, 6510 Praterie magre da fieno a bassa altitudine, cenosi, seppur di origine antropogena, molto interessante perché si presenta ricca di specie e di fioriture e rappresenta un habitat, i prati da sfalcio in coltura tradizionale, che generalmente non è più riscontrabile sia per labbandono delle pratiche agricole in zone marginali sia per lespandersi delledilizia residenziale ed industriale.
