Other Site Characteristics

Sistema litoraneo costituito da una laguna di limitata estensione separata dal mare da un sottilediaframma sabbioso e collegata all'entroterra da un sistema di dune relitte. Il fondale lagunare èparzialmente coperto da cenosi di fanerogame marine (Zosteretea marinae) e le porzioni marginali sonocolonizzate da tipica vegetazione alofila di barena (Salicornietum venetae). La fascia strettamentelitoranea è occupata da frammenti della serie vegetazionale psammofila (Salsolo-Cakiletum aegyptiacae,Sporobolo arenarii-Agropyretum juncei, Echinophoro spinosae-Ammophiletum arenariae, Tortulo-Scabiosetum) mentre sul sistema di dune relitte si sviluppa una pineta d'impianto a Pinus pinea confascia antistante a Juniperus communis. Nelle bassure interdunali si rinviene sporadicamente l'Eriantho-Schoenetum nigricantis.

L'area propriamente lagunare è importante per migrazioni e svernamento di limicoli, anatidi, svassi,strolaghe. Presenza di entità rare e/o di notevole rilevanza fitogeografica.
