Other Site Characteristics

Sorgenti e tratto pedemontano del fiume Stirone (circa 20 km) caratterizzato da una stretta valle con pareti verticali di arenaria, quasi interamente coperta di boschi di latifoglie, per lo più cedui, aree a vegetazione arbustiva di ricolonizzazione di ex-coltivi, prati da sfalcio e rupi, boscaglie fortemente antropizzate. Sono comprese le conflenze dei due affluenti Rivarolo e Utanella; i boschi sono più conservati nel settore montano-collinare.

4.2 Quality and importance

Specie vegetali CORINE appendice K: Orchis coriophora. Specie animali: significativa popolazione nidificante di Merops apiaster. Presenza di Natrix maura ai margini dell'areale continentale.
