Other Site Characteristics

Valle salmastra arginata utilizzata a scopo itticolturale. Poco antropizzata e abbondante di aspetti non alterati da interventi umani, rappresenta la valle salmastra meglio conservata dal punto di vista ambientale e paesaggistico. Presenza di alcuni dossi con lembi a Quercus ilex e di un vasto sistema di dossi con vegetazione alofila. Il sito comprende anche il tratto terminale del Po di Volano, le valli a nord di esso e l'area a sud di Valle Falce.

4.2 Quality and importance

Specie vegetali CORINE appendice K: Bassia hirsuta. RARE e MINACCIATE: Plantago cornuti. RARISSIME e MINACCIATE: Bassia hirsuta. Colonia di Phalacrocorax carbo sinensis più importante d'Italia. Una delle due colonie di Larus melanocephalus più importanti d'Italia (l'altra è nelle vicine Valli di Comacchio). Inoltre il sito ospita importanti popolazioni nidificanti di Sterna sandvicensis, Larus ridibundus, Sterna hirundo, Himantopus himantopus.colonie di Sterna albifrons e Sterna hirundo. Nidificazione di Anas strepera.
