Dorsale appenninica vicina alla pianura nolana caratterizzata da cime calcaree con ampie coperture di materiali vulcanici ed altopiani glaciali fortemente carsificati, con elevati livelli di precipitazioni.

4.2 Quality and importance

Estese faggete, imponenti castagneti sino a 700-800 m e boschi misti che rivestono pendii e cime; presenza di praterie di alta e bassa quota. Importanti comunità di chirotteri e di anfibi e rettili. Avifauna nidificante: Faco peregrinus; svernante: Milvus milvus.
