4.2 Quality and importance
| Bedingt durch die Südwestexposition und die Lage an der Wiener Pforte herrschen extreme Standortbedingungen in Bezug auf Temperatur und Wasserhaushalt. Das Gebiet ist in weiten Teilen durch ein Nebeneinander unterschiedlicher Biotoptypen und Sukzessionsstadien charakterisiert, beginnend von offenen Gesteinsflächen bis hin zu Flaum- und thermophilen Eichenmischwäldern. Die süd- und westexponierten Hänge zum Donautal tragen ein kleinteiliges Mosaik von in unterschiedlichem Ausmaß verbuschten Halbtrockenrasen, Weingärten, Äckern und anthropogen beeinflussten Gehölzen. Die gegen Norden sanft abfallenden Hochflächen sind zum überwiegenden Teil von Laubwäldern bestockt. In allen Teilen finden sich Wochenend- und Dauersiedlungen. Das Gebiet stellt einen wichtigen Naherholungsraum für die umliegenden Gemeinden dar. Für seltene Insekten- und Pflanzenarten stellt der Bisamberg die nördliche bzw. westliche Verbreitungsgrenze dar. Das Gebiet ist durch großen floristischen sowie faunistischen Artenreichtum gekennzeichnet. |
