Other Site Characteristics

Das Ennstal ist ein breites glazial geformtes Tal an der Grenze zwischen den nördlichen Kalkalpen, der nördlichen Grauwackenzone und den Zentralalpen. Auf dem breiten, früher weitgehend versumpften Talboden hatte die Enns ursprünglich einen stark gewundenen Lauf, der im Zuge einer Regulierung im vorigen Jahrhundert gestreckt wurde. Die Gamperlacke ist eine abgetrennte Flussschlinge. In das Schutzgebiet wurde eine Pufferzone miteinbezogen, die angrenzendes Dauergrünland einschließt und bis an den Westrand des Selzthaler Moores reicht, wobei es sich um Torfstichgelände in allen Stadien der Wiederbewaldung handelt.

Im Vergleich zu anderen Altlaufresten weist die Gamperlacke eine ausgedehnte Verlandungszone und eine reiche Schwimmblattvegetation auf.
