Other Site Characteristics

Im Gebiet herrscht ein außergewöhnlich tannenreicher Fichten-Tannenwald, (zum Teil mit Buche) vor, auch Bergahorn ist sporadisch anzutreffen. Die Bestockung der Steilhänge weist Schutzwaldcharakter auf.Das Schutzgebiet erstreckt sich S,SE bzw. SW seitig des Martinsbühels im Gemeindegebiet von Unken

4.2 Quality and importance

Das SPA "Martinsbichl" ist vor allem ein wichtiger Lebensraum für das Auerhuhn und ist als Wildeuropaschutzgebiet für diese Art ausgewiesen. Durch die räumliche Verteilung der SPAs Hochgimpling (AT3218000), Winklmoos (AT32031010), Gernfilzen-Bannwald (AT321900) und Klemmerich (AT 3215000) und des hier beschriebenen Gebiets Martinsbichl ist eine weitgehende Abdeckung des Gesamtlebensraumes der in diesem Bereich lebenden Auerhuhnpopulation gegeben. Durch die genannten Gebiete sind sowohl Balzplätze, als auch Sommer- und Winterlebensräume dieser Art gesichert.Neben dem Auerwild kommen auch weitere Bergwaldarten des Anhangs I hier vor. Auch der Uhu besitzt hier ein Jagdgebiet.Das Gebiet ist bis auf einen Wanderweg/Almweg im Randbereich weitgehend störungsfrei und ohne wesentliche touristische und wirtschaftliche Infrastruktureinrichtungen.Eine Bejagung des Auerwilds findet nicht statt.Die von den Grundbesitzern seit 25 Jahren durchgeführte naturnahe Waldbewirtschaftung wirkt sich sehr günstig auf die Lebensraumerhaltung für den Auerhuhnbestand und die anderen Anhang-I Arten aus. aus.Durch die Ausweisung als Wildeuropaschutzgebiet ist eine weitgehende Störungsfreihaltung des Gebiets auch für die Zukunft gewährleistet.
