Other Site Characteristics

Das Gebiet, das sich zwischen Großem und Kleinem Hundshorn und dem Perhorn im Gemeindegebiet von Lofer erstreckt, weist großflächige Bergmischwaldbestände und darüber subalpinen Lärchen-Fichtenwald mit Zirben auf. Einige Bereiche sind auch mit Latschengebüsch bedeckt (unter "Heath scrub" in den Habitatklassen angeführt). Einige markierte Wanderwege führen durch das Schutzgebiet.

4.2 Quality and importance

Das Gebiet wurde vor allem als Schutzgebiet für Auer- und Birkwild ausgewiesen, doch kommen auch andere Anhang-I Arten vor. Auer- und Birkwild haben im SPA sowohl Balzplätze als auch Sommer- und Wintereinstände.Durch die naturnahe Waldbewirtschaftung ist eine nachhaltige Sicherung des Lebensraumes der vorkommenden Arten gewährleistet.Eine Bejagung der Rauhfußhühner findet nicht statt.Das Gebiet ist bis auf einige markierte Wanderwege und eine kleine Almfläche weitgehend störungsfrei. Es finden sich keine sonstigen touristischen und wirtschaftlichen Infrastruktureinrichtungen.Durch die Einrichtung des Wildeuropaschutzgebiets soll auch in Zukunft die Störungsfreihaltung gewährleistet werden.
