Other Site Characteristics

Das Frastanzer Ried ist die größte Talbodenvermoorung (Überflutungsmoor) im Walgau und eine der bedeutendsten im Einzugsgebiet des Flusses Ill. Die vorkommenden gefährdeten Pflanzengesellschaften weisen eine vielfältige Tier- und Pflanzenwelt auf. Bei diesem Gebiet handelt es sich zudem um einen wichtigen Grundwasserspeicher in Vorarlberg. Die besonderen hydrologischen Verhältnisse bringen Quellaufstöße und grundwassergespeiste Gebiete hervor.

4.2 Quality and importance

Dem Gebiet kommt eine sehr hohe Repräsentativität zu; es handelt sich um eines der bedeutendsten Vorkommen der Sumpf-Gladioleund des Glanzstendels in Vorarlberg. Die ausgedehnte und große Population der Sumpf-Gladiole weist insgesamt einen guten Erhaltungszustand auf, der unter anderem auch auf der weitestgehend intakten Hydrologie des Gebietes beruht.
