Other Site Characteristics

o Le site correspond aux zones humides de l'Eau Noire et de ses affluents entre Rièzes (Forge Jean Petit) et Cul-des-Sarts. Il englobe des prairies de fauche, des milieux alluviaux (Forge Jean Petit, vallée entre Rièzes et l'Escaillère, Marais de la Haute-Nimelette), établis souvent sur sols gleyifiés, une petite tourbière relique à Cul-des-Sarts mais aussi des portions de massifs forestiers mixtes (hêtraies mélangée à des pessières des Bois des Hauts Marais et de Gonrieux).

4.2 Quality and importance

o La vallée de l'Eau Noire et celles de ses affluents forment un complexe exceptionnel occupé par des végétations hygrophiles variées et de qualité : phalaridaies, jonchaies, glycéraies, scirpaies, cariçaies diverses, bas-marais, aulnaies rivulaires et anciennes prairies humides de fauche très riches en espèces ;o Présence par endroits de portions de tourbières partiellement dégradées (Haute-Nimelette, Cul-des-Sarts), et de boulaies pubescentes sur sols gleyfiés ;o Forêt environnante corespondant essentiellement à des stades dégradés de la hêtraie à luzule (forêts mélangées d'épicéas et de hêtres) avec une avifaune riche et diversifiée ;o Présence de plantes rares hygrophiles caractéristiques des diverses végétations rencontrées (dont les milieux para-tourbeux) ; présence de papillons rares et menacés ; présence de poissons de l'annexe II de la directive ;o Eau de l'Eau Noire de bonne qualité.
