Le site reprend des coteaux mosans ainsi que des vallons de ruisseaux encaissés tels que le Fond d'Oxhe ou le Vallon d'Ombret.

4.2 Quality and importance

Les versants et plateaux forestiers situés au sud de la Meuse sont essentiellement recouverts de forêts acidophiles, mais l'on retrouve également dans les zones plus calcaires des forêts neutrophiles ou calcicoles, ainsi que des forêts de ravins. Les fonds de vallée abritent quant à eux chênaies-frênaies humides et forêts alluviales. Parmi les milieux ouverts d'intérêt présents dans le site, il convient de citer les pelouses maigres ainsi que les milieux rocheux propices notamment au hibou grand-duc, en particulier sur les coteaux mosans exposés au sud. Du point de vue botanique, la présence de plusieurs espèces en limite septentrionale de leur aire de répartition est tout à fait remarquable ; il s'agit notamment du buis et d'une espèce d'hélianthème. Le site contient également des cavités de grand intérêt, dont la grotte de Ramioul, abritant plusieurs espèces de chauves-souris d'intérêt communautaire. Concernant l'avifaune, le vallon du Fond d'Oxhe abrite des nichées de martin-pêcheur en bordure du cours d'eau, et les différents massifs sont l'habitat des populations de bondrée apivore, cigogne noire, pics mar et noir. On peut encore noter la présence d'une entomofaune diversifiée, et notament du lucane cerf-volant et de l'écaille chinée.
