Other Site Characteristics

Le site regroupe un ensemble de petits ruisseaux et rivières ardennaises prenant leur source au Plateau des Hautes-Fagnes et caractérisés par des eaux très acides et de bonne qualité.

4.2 Quality and importance

Il s'agit d'un site de première importance pour des espèces forestières comme les pics mar et noir, la cigogne noire et la bondrée apivore. Dans certains fonds de vallée tourbeux, il subsiste des aulnaies marécageuses et oligotrophes ainsi que des fragments de boulaies tourbeuses (91D0*). Avec un grand nombre d'espèces et divers taxons rares ou se raréfiant, la vallée de la Hoëgne possède un très grand intérêt bryologique.
