Other Site Characteristics

Le site correspond au lit mineur de la vallée de la Warche (rivière ardennaise typique) entre les lacs de Bütgenbach et de Robertville. Il englobe aussi les prairies fangeuses de Bosfagne et de Schlangervenn, les pessières et landes sur sol hydromorphe de Moussîre et la vallée du Krombach (affluent de la Warche au sud d'Elsenborn).

4.2 Quality and importance

Les milieux ouverts dominent dans le site et sont caractérisés par les prairies maigres de fauche submontagnardes et montagnardes (6510 et 6520) peu fertilisées qui occupent encore de belles superficies aux côtés des prairies de fauche humides à canche cespiteuse et bistorte. Des mégaphorbiaies rivulaires à reine des prés (6430) bordent certains tronçons du cours d'eau conjointement ou en alternance avec des cordons d'aulnaies-frênaies rivulaires des cours d'eau rapides (91E0*). Quelques fragments de nardaies (6230*), des landes tourbeuses (4010) ou sèches (4030) et une parcelle relevant du Molinion (6410) complètent l'inventaire des milieux ouverts d'intérêt communautaire présents sur le site.Ces zones ouvertes abritent de nombreuses espèces d'oiseaux remarquables tels le tarier des prés ou la pie-grièche écorcheur. De même les deux espèces de milans (noir et royal) sont présentes dans le site tout comme la cigogne noire qui l'utilise comme territoire de chasse. Le cuivré de la bistorte peut également être observé à différents endroits dans le site.
