Other Site Characteristics

o Le site comprend deux entités distinctes : la Fagne de la Gotale d'une part et la vallée encaissée du Ruisseau de Chavanne d'autre part, au nord de Vaux-Chavanne. Cette vallée regroupe des milieux alluviaux (ouverts ou forestiers) et quelques forêts de versant fortement enrésinées.

4.2 Quality and importance

o La zone de la Gottale est un complexe humide comprenant notamment des prairies de fauche et des pâtures du Molinion actuellement fauchées ou pâturées, exceptionnellement bien conservées et remarquables sur les plans botanique et entomologique ; o Station d'épipactis des marais (Epipactis palustris), sans doute actuellement la seule de tout le district Ardennais ; o Présence de milieux ouverts alluviaux intéressants, propices à la Pie-grièche écorcheur et au Martin-pêcheur.
