Other Site Characteristics

o Site correspondant à un très large vallon à fond plat sur des assises principalement schisteuses ; substrat formé de tourbe et de sols minéraux humides ; o Présence d'anciennes fosses d'exploitation de la tourbe ainsi que des haldes d'orpaillage, le long du ruisseau ; o Une des vallées ardennaises les moins urbanisées.

4.2 Quality and importance

o Végétation du site comprenant différents types de tourbières, une tourbière boisée par la boulaie pubescente, des bas-marais à Carex curta et Agrostis canina, une prairie mouilleuse et jonchaie acutiflore, une saulaie tourbeuse à Salix cinerea, une magnocaricaie à Carex paniculata, des landes herbeuses à Nardus stricta, des landes à callune et airelle, des sarothamnaies, une chênaie pédonculée submontagnarde ;o Présence de plusieurs types d'habitats prioritaires ;o Intérêt exceptionnel pour les Odonates, les Rhopalocères, les Carabidés ; o Très grand intérêt floristique et ornithologique (une des dernières stations de la bécassine des marais en Wallonie) ; o En amont, grand potentiel de restauration de milieux tourbeux.
