Other Site Characteristics

o Le site s'articule autour des versants escarpés de la Semois et de ses affluents entre Les Hayons et Bouillon.

4.2 Quality and importance

o Les forêts sont largement composées de remarquables hêtraies chênaies acidophiles. Le long des fortes pentes à exposition froide, se développent parfois des érablaies ardennaises comme à La Roche Percée ou à la Roche de la Saurpîre. Sur les terrasses alluviales, les aulnaies imbriquées de mégaphorbaies sont de grande valeur biologique. Quelques prairies de fauche et nardaies subsistent au Poteau de Lévau ou au Pré Lamquin. Des peuplements de végétation amphibie et aquatique se développent dans le cours de la Semois ; Le site présente un intérêt important pour l'avifaune forestière (Pic noir, Pic mar, Bondrée apivore), ainsi que celle des cours d'eau (Martin-pêcheur).
