o Sites comprenant notamment un méandre de l'ancienne Semois à Herbeumont, la RND de Basse-Wanchie, la Vallée d'Aise, la forêt domaniale d'Herbeumont, le Bois de Meussin, Les Epioux ; o La vallée d'Aise : massif forestier reposant sur des assises du Siégenien inférieur et du Gedinnien supérieur, tantôt gréseuses, tantôt phylladeuses.

4.2 Quality and importance

Le site comprend le lit majeur de la Semois et une grande partie des forêts de versant entre Florenville et Auby. Elle est composée de 80% de feuillus et accueille une avifaune typique des grands massifs forestiers (Cigogne noire, Pic noir et Pic mar) tandis que le Martin-pêcheur niche dans les berges de la rivière. De nombreuses ardoisières abandonnées et leurs friches et éboulis associés offre gête et couvert aux chiroptère dont la rarissime Barbastelle. Les Conque Sainte-Sécile, Bois de Meussin et forêt domaniale d'Herbeumont sont parmi les forêts wallonnes les plus représentatives du Luzulo-Fagetum. Les Epioux rassemblent des étangq à berges en pente douce et à battement du niveau de l'eau, abritant une importante population de Littorella uniflora et Eleocharis palustris et sont une zone de nourrissage régulière pour la Cigogne noire. La plaine est caractérisé par une mosaïque de prairie de fauche, des prairies alluviales, des reliques de prairies humides oligotrophes; habitat devenu très rare en région wallonne suite au drainage et à l'intensification agricole. Un bocage bien développé accueille Pie-grièche écorcheur et milans. Quelques mares situées en prairie hébergent une population de Triton crêté.
