Other Site Characteristics

Le site est principalement composé de deux petits massifs forestiers situés sur des tiennes calcaires de la Calestienne, l'un étant situé entre Sinsin et Heure, l'autre au nord-ouest de Nettine.

4.2 Quality and importance

Les zones feuillues sont principalement des forêts appartenant au métaclimax des hêtraies calcicole et neutrophile, mais l'on retrouve également des forêts de ravins sur les pentes ombragées et des forêts humides et alluviales dans les fonds de vallée. Les pics noir et mar trouvent leur habitat au sein de ces massifs forestiers. Le site abrite également des cavités souterraines et plusieurs espèces de chauves-souris d'intérêt communautaire y ont été recensées. Enfin, des rochers calcaires et prairies de fauches contribuent en partie à l'habitat de la pie grièche.
