Other Site Characteristics

o Ensemble typiquement famennien comprenant un important massif forestier établi sur argile et schistes ainsi que des prairies de fauche, notamment dans la Plaine de la Behotte. L'aspect bocager du site est remarquable : nombreuses haies et drains remplis d'eau, prairies de fauche de bonne qualité et de grande superficie.

4.2 Quality and importance

o Prairies de fauche non amendées avec maintien d'une remarquable concentration de l'orchidée Orchis morio et de la fougère Ophioglossum vulgatum) ; o Intrication de Mesobrometum, d'Arrhenatherion et de Molinion ; o Types d'habitats aussi bien conservés devenus extrêmement rares en Belgique ; o Massif de superficie représentative de la chênaie de Famenne avec différentes variantes édaphiques et phytosociologiques ; o Zone de grand intérêt orntihologique pour les espèces liées aux prairies de fauche (tarier pâtre, pie-grièches écorcheur).
