Other Site Characteristics

Le site comprend les vallées de plusieurs ruisseaux encaissés de type ardennais : le ry de Rome, le ruisseau de la Forge du Prince, des Nobuissons, de Robais et des portions de forêt feuillue: forêt de Nismes et bois de Couvin. Les fonds sont principalement occupés par des milieux forestiers alluviaux entrecoupés de milieux enrésinés mais restaurables.

4.2 Quality and importance

Les ruisseaux de type ardennais (3260) sont l'habitat du martin-pêcheur, du chabot et de la lamproie de Planer. Les fonds de vallées hébergent un complexe de forêts alluviales (91E0*), marécageuses et de chênaies-charmaies humides (9160). Parmi les espèces nidificatrices on note aussi la présence de plusieurs espèces forestières telles que la cigogne noire, les pics noir et mar, la bondrée apivore... toutes espèces concernées par la Directive européenne 92-43 et jouissant d'un statut précaire en Wallonie. Le plan d'eau du barrage du ry de Rome abrite des végétations amphibies (3130) et accueille occasionnellement le balbuzard pêcheur en migration.
