Other Site Characteristics

o Remarquable ensemble de cours d'eau ardennais aux vallons encaissés, de forêts de versant et de forêt mixtes établies sur d'anciennes zones fangeuses ou sur sols paratourbeux , essentiellement, entre Frelennes et Vencimont, d'une part et entre Vencimont et Gedinne, d'autre part.

4.2 Quality and importance

o Vaste milieu forestier à valeur potentielle élevée : reconstitution des zones de hêtraies et d'aulnaies alluviales ; o Seule localité belge connue pour le bryophyte Dicranum viride ;o Site hébergeant d'intéressantes populations de Gelinotte et une population relique de tétras lyres (observations ponctuelles) ;o Site potentiel (données anciennes) pour la restauration de l'habitat de la Loutre (Lutra Lutra) et de la moule perlière (Margaritifera margaritifera).
