Other Site Characteristics

Hilly area, covered by secondary decidious forests. There are a few micro-reservoirs which used to support nesting pairs of Tadorna ferruginea. A great percentage of the site's area consists of arable lands and fields, sparcely overgrown by shrubs. Another part of the site is covered by broad leaved forest, dominant woody plant is from genus Quercus.

4.2 Quality and importance

A point at the Via Pontica Migration route for soaring birds, potentially suitable habitat for breeding Aquila heliaca.Nesting area of Tadorna feruginea. The site is an important spot for resting of roaming migrants. The species enlisted as 'Other species-D' are included in Annex III of the Bulgarian Biodiversity Act as protected species.
