Other Site Characteristics

The biggest former floodplain along Danube near the town of Guljanci. Many of the habitats have been changed after different human activities.

4.2 Quality and importance

The biggest former floodplain of Danube, important for the temporary marshes, sand dunes, salt meadows and has big faunistic and floristic diversity. There are possiblities for the restoration of the former marshes.

The most important site in Bulgaria for habitat 1530. One of the most important place for habitat 2340 in Bulgaria. Locality of rare species of the wild flora and fauna. Possibility for restoration of the natural conditions. Survived alluvial forests on the Danube shores.
