Other Site Characteristics

The river Vacha is the some of most considerable feeder on the river Maritsa. The site is situated in Rodopa mountain. The soils in adjoining territories are humus-carbonate soils. The river is relatively full of water, separated with bend. The shores are covered with natural vegetation and artifitial vegetation of hybrid poplar.

4.2 Quality and importance

The site is place for a lot of species of birds, plants, fishes (Leuciscus cephalus, Gobio gobio, Carassius auratus, Salmo irideus, Salmo trutta), amphibians and reptilians (Rana ridibunda, Lacerta viridis, Coluber jugularis, Natrix natrix, Testudo graeca, Emys orbicularis, etc.), etc. The birds populations are instable, due to rare forest and shrub vegetation in the river's valleys. The other important species pointed with "D" - according to the Bulgarian Biodiversity Act.
