Other Site Characteristics

The site covers the plain part of the river valley, which is densely overgrown with willows and reeds. It also passes through agricultural lands. The Blatnitsa is a river in the Eastern part of Central Bulgaria, a left tributary of the Sazliyka River, flowing into it near the town of Radnevo. It is 54 km long. It takes it sources fro, the Kapakliyka stream in the Esatrn Surnena gora Mountains. It runs southwards in a shallow and somewhere swampy valley. The river runs along intensively used arable land, it is almost deprived of tree vegetation. There is a potential possibility for restoring the site as a bio-corridor.

4.2 Quality and importance

There is a potential possibility for restoring the site as a bio-corridor. In table "Ecological Information - Other Important species", the species justified by 'A-National' are not necessarily included in the National Red Data Book, because its last edition is too old (1985), not up-dated and has no legislative value. The species indicated by 'A-National' are the protected flora and fauna species, included in the Bulgarian Biodiversity Act, and therefore this motivation is given highest priority.
