Other Site Characteristics

The territory of the site covers 14 ha: 12.5 ha of those are forest areas and the rest are agricultural. The site represents an arched, natural rock bridge remains from destoroyed karst cave - called Bojiat most and karst spring "Jabokrek". The core of the site consist limestone karst. Surface and underground karst rivers, pot-holes, karst caves and rock canyon valley. The caves in the region are:Tigancheto - lenght - 466 m/ displacement - 9, Bojiat mostlenght - 443 m/ displacement - 3 and Peshketo – lenth 630 m/ displacement -27 m.

4.2 Quality and importance

"Ponora" Cave is the begining of underground river, which is rising in "Jitoliub" - karst spring. After the spring the "Liliashka river" goes to the northwest direction and seems like canyon valley. The water runs over the rock river bed with waterfalls and deep erosion pools and reefs. 50 meters on the North is "Bojiat most". It is situated 2,5 km eastern from the village of Liliache and 3 km in southwestern direction from village of Chiren. It is formed almost in the middle of the large karst region situated southern from the Historical ridge "Milin kamak" (460 m a.s.l.). "Bojiat most" seems like a tunnel with enormous size. The entrance have 20 meters high and 25 meters wide. Vaulted ceiling is 9 - 12 meters thick. There are three small lakes under the bridge. The deepest is 1,7 meters. It is 25 meters long and 15 meters wide. The ciling of the bridge is supported by rock colums in which there are rock niches and some caves. The tunnel lenght in main axis is 125 meters. The vegetation cover of the site is from Carpinus orientalis, Acer campesre, Syringa vulgaris, Salix alba, Crataegys monogyna, Cornus mas. Part of the territory is cultivated with Pinus nigra. The caves has exeptional conservation value with rich cave-dwelling organisms and bats. The site is afrer reconstruction of the alleys. Visits are uncoordinated. The penetration in the cave "Bojiat most" is possible only with the race boat. The entire region is of great historical value as Roman settlement in I - IV A.D. Here are discovered remains from buildings and funerals.
