4. SITE DESCRIPTION

4.1 General site character

Habitat class % Cover
N22100.00

Total Habitat Cover

Other Site Characteristics

Water cave with length around 3.5 km. Trough it runs an underground stream and deep lakes are formed. It ends with an insuperably deep siphon. During the 70ies attempts for urbanizing are done as metal construction of around 1 km long and path over the water have been constructed. After a flooding they have deformed by the entering water and the project is stopped.

4.2 Quality and importance

One of the most significant caves for bat conservation in Bulgaria. The cave is an especially good habitat for wintering and breeding of bats especially Myotis myotis, myotis capaccinii and Miniopterus schreibersii.

4.3 Threats, pressures and activities with impacts on the site

The most important impacts and activities with high effect on the site
