Other Site Characteristics

The site is located north and northeast of the town of Knezha. This is the only virgin territory left of the loess plateau "Ravnishteto". In the vicinity there are no other steppe communities nor settlements. The western part of the territory is used for grazing ("Marinov Geran" area), and the eastern part is mowed mechanically.

4.2 Quality and importance

The area is very well preserved and with highly representativity of the priority habitat type 6250 * Pannonic loess steppic grasslands. In Konunski dol there are also animal species of Annex II of Directive 92/43 associated with steppe habitats There are rare, endangered and endemic species. The site is an isolated area in a region with intensive agriculture.
