Zentrale Pommersche Bucht, umfasst vollständig den deutschen Teil der Oderbank (LRT 1110) mit herausragender ökologischer Funktion für Fische, Vögel und Schweinswale (großer Teil d. bes. gefährd. östl. Population der Schweinswale in der Ostsee).

4.2 Quality and importance

Repräsentative Sandbank in gutem Zustand, höchste Konz. von Schweinswalen (der besond. gefährdeten östl. Population). Überwinterungs-, Nahrungs- und Mausergebiet für Meeresenten und Seetaucher. Laich- u. Aufwachsgebiet vieler Fischarten. Weidegebiet für brackwassertolerante Süßwasserfische u. der prioritären anadromen Fischart Stör (nach Wiederansiedlung). Im Kuppensystem der Ostsee nimmt die Oderbank als vermutlich ertrunkene Düne eine Sonderstellung ein. Ihre morphologische Struktur ist besonders wertvoll.
