Other Site Characteristics

Die Segeberger Höhle ist eine Auslaughöhle im Anhydrit. Die Höhle ist ca. 1985 m lang. 300 m sind für Schauzwecke geöffnet. Sie ist das größte bekannte Fledermausquartier Deutschlands.

4.2 Quality and importance

Die Höhle beherbergt während des Winters ca. 7-8000 Wasserfledermäuse, 7-8000 Fransenfledermäuse, 500 Bechsteinfledermäuse, 50 Teichfledermäuse. Die Ansammlungen von Fransen- und Bechsteinfledermäusen sind die größten, bekannten weltweit.
