Aus zwei Teilbereichen bestehendes Gebiet mit Marschgrünland, Gewässern, teilweise mit Tideeinfluss, Süsswasserwatten, ausgedehnten Seggen- und Hochstaudenfluren, Röhrichten sowie 2 Baggerseen.

4.2 Quality and importance

Bedeutendes niedersächsisches Brutgebiet für Vogelgemeinschaften der Feuchtwiesen u. Röhrichte sowie Nahrungshabitat von bis zu 16 Brutpaaren des Weißstorchs. Vernetzungsglied zwischen den Vogelschutzgebieten an der Unter- u. Mittelelbe.
