Dünen und magere Grasfluren mit lockerem Birken-Kiefern-Pappeln-Anflugwald am Rande des Elbe-Urstromtals. Elbsandwiesen: Stromtal-Grünland wechselfeuchter und trockener Standorte. Und der Überflutungs- und Tidedynamik ausgesetzte, sandige Elbinsel.

4.2 Quality and importance

Einziges Binnendünengebiet der schl.-hol. Elbniederung u. der Tidedynamik unterliegenden Elbwiesen östl. Hamburgs im Übergang zw. atlantischer u. kontinentaler Prägung. Vorkommen vieler gefährdeter Arten z. T. an ihrer Verbreitungsgrenze.
