Großes zusammenhängendes Laubwaldgebiet mit Bruch-und Sumpfwäldern, Nieder-und Übergangsmooren, Röhrichten, Rieden und Feuchtgebüschen sowie extensivem Feuchtgrünland und Salzwiesen mit den gebietstypischen Tieren und Pflanzen. Nur am Niederungsrand archäolog.Fundstellen.Die Niederung war früher wie heute siedlungsungünstig. Nur Einzelfunde oder hist. überlieferte Wüstungen bekannt. Weichselkaltzeitliche Niederterrassen des Elbe-Urstromtales.
