Vielfältiges Hügelland auf Kalk, Mergel, Sandstein und Löss mit Buchenwäldern, nutzungsbedingten Eichen-Mischwäldern, Kalk-Magerrasen, mesophilem Grünland, Quellsümpfen, Teichen, Tümpeln u.a., artenreicher Hartholzauwald an der Innerste.
