Other Site Characteristics

Nahezu alle Verlandungsstadien nährstoffreicher Seen von Schwimmblattgesellschaften bis hin zu Erlen-Eschen-Beständen sind in dem Gebiet grossflächig und naturnah vertreten. Botanisch ausserordentlich interessant sind die atlantischen Heide-Hangmoore. Ergänzung zu 3.3.: Im Gebiet gibt es bedeutsame Vorkommen folgender Vogelarten: Baumfalke, Bekassine, Blaukehlchen, Dunkelwasserläufer, Eisvogel, Grünschenkel, Gänsesäger, Heidelerche, Knäkente, Krickente, Löffelente, Nachtigall, Pirol, Rohrdommel, Schwarzspecht, Spießente, Tafelente, Teichrohrsänger, Trauerseeschwalbe, Tüpfelsumpfhu

Der Gebietskomplex weist von zahlreichen FFH-Lebensräumen (u.a. Schneidenried, Birken-Moorwald, natürlicher eutropher See) und Arten (u.a. Steinbeisser) landesweit repräsentative und zu den grössten zählende Bestände auf.
