Großes zusammenhängendes Waldgebiet suedlich der Stadt Essen, geprägt von Buchen-, Buchen-Eichen- und seltener Eichenwäldern. Daneben sind zahlreiche Nadelholzparzellen vorhanden. Kleinflächig sind Bestände an Roteiche, Bergahorn und Robinie vorzufinden.
