Other Site Characteristics
Die Bruchhauser Steine, eine bis zu 90 m hohe Felsgruppe, ragt mit vier mächtigen Quarzporphyrfelsen weithin sichtbar aus den umgebenden montanen Buchenmischwäldern hervor. Die Felsen und Blockfelder sind z.T. auch in Grünland eingebettet.
Im Gebiet kommen folgende FFH-Lebensraumtypen vor:

Die Felsen sind traditioneller Brutplatz d. Wanderfalken u. des Uhus u. weisen eine einzigartige, in NRW hochgradig seltene Felsvegetation (Eiszeitrelikte) auf.
Im Bereich der Felsen Reste einer Fliehburg mit Umwallung aus dem 7 Jhdt. v.Chr. (Bodendenkmal)
Porphyrfelsen mit u.a. herausragender vegetationsgeographischer Bedeutung als ausseralpiner Wuchsort von Glazialrelikten. |
