Other Site Characteristics

Im Norden an die Wahner Heide anschließendes ausgedehntes Waldgebiet. Die Bedeutung des Gebietes resultiert aus der naturraumtypischen Vielfalt mit großen Eichenmischwäldern auf Sand im Wechsel mit sauren Buchenwäldern sowie einen in Teilen naturnahem Fließgewässersystem mit Sandbächen und Bacherlenwäldern. Im Gebiet kommen folgende FFH-Lebensraumtypen vor: 91E0, 9110, 9190, 9160, 9130

Landesweit bedeutsames Vorkommen des Mittelspechtes, desweiteren sind Schwarzspecht, Grauspecht, Wespenbussard, Eisvogel, Rotmilan und Baumfalke als Brutvögel vertreten.
