Other Site Characteristics

Großes Grünlandareal auf ehem. Truppenübungsplatz, welches stark durch militärische Übungen geprägt ist . Zahlreiche Tümpel. Durch Erosion haben sich großflächig Felsgrusfluren entwickelt.

4.2 Quality and importance

Große Kammmolch-Population, Lebensraum zahlreicher geschützter Tier- und Pflanzenarten,. Sehr lange Weidenutzung, vermutlich schon mehrere Jahrhunderte offener Charakter. Eines der letzten großen zusammenhängenden, artenreichen Grünländer in Hessen. Hauptsächlich silikatischer Untergrund, teilweise geringe Lößauflage.
