Mittelgebirgslandschaft auf Basaltschild,die Hochlagen werden von großen weitgehend geschlossenen Wäldern bestimmt,teils von Fichtenwald,teils von Buchenwäldern,eingestreut liegen tlw.heckenreiche Bergwiesen u. -weiden,Vermoorungen,Quellfluren u. Bäche.
