Tallandschaft der Horloff und Nebengewässer mit frisch-feuchtem Grünland, artenreichen Senken mit periodisch trockenfallenden Mulden und Auwaldresten. Landschaftsökologisch und ästhetisch wertvolles Gebiet mit Offenlandcharakter.

4.2 Quality and importance

Weite, ruhige Tallandschaft mit gutem Grünland, strukturreichen Auwaldresten und periodisch trockenfallenden Senkenbereichen. Vogelbrutgebiet von überregionaler, hoher Bedeutung. Traditionelle Wiesen- und Weidenlandschaft. Ehemals Salzquellen mit Salinen zur Salzgewinnung (18.-19. Jh.), Grenzraum des römischen Reiches. Niedermoorböden a. Hochflutsedimenten ü. Torf-Gley-Tschernosem, ehem. größter artes. Wasseraustritt am Fuße des Vogelsbg. m.Moorbildung, ehem. Braunkohleabbau.
