Durch Erosion freigelegter Basaltdurchbruch durch die Buntsandsteindecke des Spessarts mit 2 Basalthöhlen und Vorkommen offener Felsfluren mit wärmeliebenden Pflanzen und typ. Felsspaltenfarnen umgeben von naturnahem Mischwald

Natürliches Vorkommen von Silikatfelsen mit Felsspaltenvegetation mit regional seltenen Arten, größte Basalthöhle des Main-Kinzig-Kreises, wichtiges Überwinterungsquartier für Fledermausarten (u.a. Großes Maussohr) Reste einer frühmittelalterlichen Höhenburg als Kulturdenkmal ausgewiesen, im Jahre 1905 als eines der ersten Naturdenkmale in Deutschland ausgewiesen Bedeutendste, noch existierende Höhle in Basalten Hessens, in den Höhlenwänden Einschlüsse von Buntsandstein im Basalt
