Charakteristischer Ausschnitt aus dem oberen Mittelrheintal bestehend aus einer Unterhangzone des Engweger Kopfes mit z.T. stark verbuschten Weinbergsbrachen und überwiegend verbuschten/bewaldeten, so-exp. Hängen am Weisel-Berg

4.2 Quality and importance

Im Zusammenwirken von historischer Nutzung und vielfältiger naturräumlicher Ausstattung entstandene Biotopkomplexe mit reichhaltigem Inventar an bestandsbedrohten, zumeist wärmeliebenden Tier- und Pflanzenarten bzw. Lebensgemeinschaften Relikte der früher landschaftsbestimmenden Weinbaukultur mit terrassierten ehemaligen Rebfluren und zahlreichen Trockenmauern Tief eingeschnittenes Durchbruchstal des Rheins mit zum Teil extrem steilen Hängen.
